I’ve been in the process of losing weight for about 3 months now, and I have been sharing with my co-workers the wonders of my diet. In this day and age of pills and gastric bypass surgery, I feel like I have truly found a diet that can work for anyone. Of course you need some willpower too, as with any diet.
My concept is simply - slow food. Don’t focus on eating less, focus on eating slower. They say that your body doesn’t realize that it’s “full” until like 15-20 minutes after you are actually full. So that 15-20 minutes can be your friend. You have to focus on getting past that 15-20 minutes. Alot of weight can be gained in 15-20 minutes, as you can easily down a few big macs and fries quite easily in that time period.
I saw a show on the discovery channel about Sumo wrestlers. They train all day long, and then binge at night. This allows them to be strong and fit, but maintain a high fat percentage. When you don’t eat for a whole day, and then you binge.. your body thinks that it needs to store fat because it’s expecting that it’ll need to go long periods of time without food. So… if you can teach your body that food is coming consistently throughout the day, it won’t store fat — as long as you don’t over eat. So focus on eating slowly and your body will always feel like it’s eating.. and therefore not panic and store fat.
I’ve lost 35 lbs in 3 months with this concept, and I am targeting 20 more lbs in the next 3 months. Add exercise to this concept and you’ll lose weight even quicker.
Let me know if the diet works for you, or if you have any suggestions on “slow” foods.
I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly is the point to this season, and right now it’s not really too worthwhile. Last season “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World.” and the imminent nuclear disaster was very engaging. This season, the plotline seems to revolve around rehashing powers and starting little mini-plotlines that really don’t seem to have any significance at all.
Claire and her family are in hiding and she’s having a love affair with super boy. She’s now struggling with getting on the cheerleading team, because that’s what she told her father she was doing… to try and hide her relationship with super boy. Is there any possible significance to this ? Other than she will eventually be found, and superboy will be her hero or be killed.
Hiro is in the middle of a love story where he has changed the past by kissing the girl he loves, but he isn’t supposed to love. What is the significance here ? It’s pretty much a bunch of cheese.
Sylar is now hanging with the new wonder twins and eventually he’ll fix his watch and regain his powers. Then we’ll get to the finale again where he’ll be defeated again in a lackluster way.
Copycat girl is learning all kinds of new moves. Why ? Can anyone even fathom the significance of this in terms of the big picture ? whatever that is…
So there are some old generation heroes being wiped out, but what’s the significance ? What happens if they do get wiped out ? It just seems like we are just seeing mini-plotlines with no major plotline. It feels like a complete mess as compared to last season.
I’m really not sure what to get excited about with Heroes anymore. Here’s the scoop on what happened :
Suresh gets worried about Molly’s health since she hasn’t woken up from the trance she went into to locate Parkman’s father. He actually brings her to the company he’s working for to see if they can help her. Claire’s dad doesn’t seem too thrilled with that concept.
Parkman and Nathan go to Parkman’s Dad’s apartment using the information Molly gave them on his location. In the process of interrogating him, they suddenly “trust” him enough to let get away by leading them through the back door and puts them into some kind of delusional state that has them fighting each other — Parkman thinking he’s fighting a guard in a prison, and Nathan thinking he’s fighting some disfigured version of himself. Molly’s having nightmares about your Dad in her dreams and is terrified of him finding her… So, maybe it’s best to use a little more caution in such situations ? Overall, I think it was just pretty stupid. These heroes seem to be too trusting at times. They find a picture of Suresh’s boss with the goldfinger , and it’s got that death mark on it.
Micah and Monica bond when Micah discovers Monica is a copycat when she copies him playing piano. She does some double dutch in the park to confirm her talent. She made a few more tomato flowers, learns some Bruce Lee moves, but really quite uneventful. Suresh shows up at Monica’s place, so she’s his next assignment.
Ando brings Hiro’s little scrolls he found in the Katana to some scientist dude to get them restored so they can read them. Another rehashing of - Hiro is helping his childhood hero win the girl that he loves. yawn…. He’s going to fight a big battle againt a big army. That storyline just doesn’t seem to have any significance.
Peter’s love affair progresses, and he opens the box with his identity. Really doesn’t inspire him to do anything. But there is a woman with the ability to shoot electricity looking for him. The bar owner lies to her about whether he’s seen Peter or not, and gets zapped. Why they don’t show him getting zapped is beyond me. As boring as the show is right now, they should invest in some cool special effects. Peter goes into the painting trance and paints the future. The painting seems to be of him and his new girlfriend in montreal, and ironically he had some plane tickets to Montreal in his special little box of possessions. The woman chasing peter is called off by her “father”. hmmm… who’s her father ? Maybe goldfinger… But really doesn’t seem to matter.
Is it me, or are the new powers we are seeing completely lame ? We so rarely even see them use their powers in new situations. I’m sure next episode Claire will accidentally fall down the stairs and break her back so they can remind us she can heal, Parkman will read a store clerk’s mind who is thinking that Parkman should lose some weight, Micah will get the high score on Halo via his powers and impress his new family, Molly will locate Waldo in record time, Peter will have a mosquito land on him and get zapped…. It just seems like there’s not much significance to their powers in most episodes, and the writer seem to just display them each week to remind us they exist.
No Sylar this week.
There’s not nearly as much intensity as there was last season.
A co-worker mentioned Puzzle Quest at work as a game that is really popular right now, and I pretty much said that I didn’t have any desire to check out that game. But the fact that we had a conversation about it, actually prompted me to check it out and buy it used for my PSP. It’s basically your standard Bejewelled game mixed with a RPG. Your ability to play the puzzle portion of the game drives your characters ability to cast spells and attack/defend. I’ll just say that I am hooked now and I’ll probably be getting this on Xbox Live next.
It’s the perfect type of game for a portable system, but I hear they have added online functionality in the Xbox 360 version.
So, even though I can be stubborn, but I do listen and eventually become open to things that I initially don’t think I’d like. As I tell my 3 year old son when trying to get him to eat vegetables — “Try it, you’ll like it”.
The Katamari Damacy series is probably one of my favorite of all time, so as you can imagine I have been eagerly awaiting this game. In looking for information about the game while patiently waiting for it’s release, I ran across many people who seemed to be very upset by the fact the game didn’t “look” like an Xbox 360 game. It’s seems that you will either love this game, or despise it. There really doesn’t seem to be any middle ground. I wouldn’t doubt if it could be linked to left/right brain in some way.
I’ll admit that the game is pretty lackluster in terms of visuals and presentation. I really wish they’d have spent some money and gave the king a voice. Probably the most annoying thing about the game is that text and his face pop up in the middle of the screen when he wants to tell you something. Whoever came up with that idea is a clown. Audio voice would have been the best solution in my mind. Spend a little cash, you definitely aren’t using much on the visuals.
I also found many of the levels to be pretty much similar, and I get the feeling that we’ll be seeing new ones as downloadable content. Which is complete and utter slap in the face to fans who bought this game. I’m ok with it being pretty much the same as previous versions, but given the fact that the levels were sparse in general… why make me download and pay for levels that should have been in the game.
But, I will say that I am happy with my purchase and that the game is great. The Xbox live leaderboards is an excellent addition that gives you an idea of how you are doing in comparison to others. Your time attack scores get uploaded to the leaderboards.
Unfortunately, the online multiplayer mode is pretty weak. You all pretty much pick up a bunch of the same object and try to hit each other — yawn…. The levels are pretty small in online battles so it gets old pretty quick.
All in all, I’ll be playing this game quite a bit to try and get higher on the rankings for each level. That’s the fun part for me, trying to get the most efficient pattern to get the largest Katamari in a given time.
It’s nice to see that we are back to field position football and the offense has the ability to generate a 97 yard drive to win a must-win game. Is it now obvious to all Grossman backers why the change needed to be made ? The offense is nothing exciting for the most part, but when the game is on the line Griese has been pretty effective at moving the ball via the pass. Griese is doing a great job of spreading the ball around and keeping the defense on it’s toes about where we’ll be going with the ball next. We don’t really have the one consistent big weapon like a Randy Moss, but as a group we do have alot of options in terms of capable recievers.
I really think that this is the kind of football that we need to play to get to the playoffs. It’s nothing extremely exciting for 90% of the game, but it’s the kind of grinding that wears teams down. I am not ready to say that we can contend with teams like the Patriots and Dallas just yet, but I think if we were able to improve our running game… We would improve our chances quite a bit. Benson is not really making much of an impact, but I’m not really sure at this point how much of that falls on the offensive line’s run blocking. Benson is not the type of back that is going to make a bunch of moves to get free, he relies on a hole to bust through. If we can improve our run blocking, I think it’ll add a dimension to our offense that will keep the defense guessing.
We ran the ball 23 times and passed 41. It’s great that we won the game, but as defenses adjust to our new QB and gameplan we really need to be ready with other options to keep them off balance. We’d be 100% more dangerous offensively if our running game evolved to the point where Benson could avg 4 yards a carry. I see glimpses of that potential from him, but it isn’t consistent enough to run through offense through him. I just hope that Lovie focuses on the offensive line and our run blocking, as it could return large dividends in late in the season and in the playoffs. In upcoming games, opponents will definitely be looking to shut down the passing game… Which will open the door for us to run more effectively.
In my mind, Benson and our offensive line’s run-blocking is the key to our success this season. If it doesn’t improve, I don’t believe we have a shot. We can’t rely on winning games in this fashion in the playoffs. Philly is no powerhouse, but I did see alot of positive things about the way we played. It really feels like we are headed in the right direction. The switch to Griese was the catalyst for all of this in my opinion.
Two consecutive 300+ passing games, you don’t see that too often in Bear country.
I know I said I wasn’t going to watch anymore, but as it turns out I did end up watching this week cause it is in HD - only to be disappointed again. The guy in that little girls dreams is Matt’s father. Sylar is with the brother/sister duo that kills people by turning their eyes black and making their mascara run, and has discovered their powers. Sylar’s watch is broken, might be key to restoring his powers ?? Claire secretly starts a cheesy romance with the flying boy and have their first date, and she tells her Dad that she’s doing cheerleading to hide it from him - as her new boyfriend was actually abducted at one point by said father and said father has picture that depicts him as getting shot in the head with claire and some guy nearby. No Hiro today - thank god. No Peter today. Micah helps young boy watch wrestling by using his powers to hack Pay-Per-View cable. Nathan is back in the picture, wants to know why mother is pleading guilty to murder of Hiro’s father when she is innocent. Picture that has Hiro’s father, Nathan/Peter’s mother, Matt’s Father, Suresh’s boss… it’s the same picture that’s been cut up and used as calling card for the grim reaper as of late. Oh.. Michah’s cousin or whatever has some kind of ability to replicate actions that she sees. Stupid. She watches the wrestling match and repeats a move on a guy robbing the burger joint she works at. It’s about as cheesy as it gets. Are they scraping the bottom of the barrel now with super powers ?
That’s all you need to know about episode 4 without really having to watch it. Those of you who managed to stay awake will not need this guide.
I’ve spent the first part of this season asking myself, “Why would you ever kick to Devin Hester ?” It seems to defy all logic, but teams seem to just keep gambling on it. In this game, I think the question would be “Why did we kick to Adrian Peterson ?” We basically gave him a bullet and played our own game of Russian Roulette, and paid the price. Of course they also needed a 55 yard field goal as well, but the return made it all possible.
As much as I’d like to believe that we should have won that game, I truly believe that the best thing we had going for us is that the Vikings didn’t run Adrian Peterson more. They ran Chester Taylor 23 times, so it’s like they wasted 23 bullets and Adrian Peterson only needed 20 to get 221 yards and 3 TD’s.
It’s a shame that Devin Hester’s heroics went to waste, he had another great game and is now making a large impact on the offense. I also saw alot of positive things about our offense in this game. They seem like they now have the will to comeback, which is something they didn’t seem to have with Rex Grossman. I think anyone who would contend that moving to Griese as our starter was a mistake is delusional. Griese is doing his fair share of making things happen on offense. He seems to do a bit more touch passing than Grossman did, which is kind of scary when you see the higher arc on the ball on some of the short passes. The longer the ball is in the air on short passes, usually means the more chance there is for someone to defend. But so far, Griese has done it in the right situations and placed them effectively. 381 yards of passing ain’t too shabby.
My one gripe is — Why did we abandon the run in the second half ? Even before we needed to, we started slipping back into our primary attack being passing. I though Benson had a very good first half. I also think that our running game set up the long pass. Even though the DB slipped, it’s just nice to be getting single coverage on your #1 receiver, and that comes from effectively running the ball. But hey.. who notices that kind of thing anymore ? Certainly not Turner, who decided that we needed to pass more in the second half. The longer Peterson sat on the bench, the better in my opinion. Why not run some clock and get their defense tired ? Oh well, it was Adrian Peterson’s game, I have a feeling that he’s gonna have alot more 200 yard games.
As a huge zombie film fan and a fan of the first movie(28 Days Later), I was pretty excited when I came across this movie at Blockbuster. I have a 3 year old son, so it’s hard for me and my wife to get out and see movies, and to be honest I really prefer watching movies at home nowadays. Otherwise, I would have watched this in the theater for sure.
When I watched the first movie, I was completely caught by surprise as I was expecting far less. Turns out it became my favorite movie, and bought the DVD — I rarely ever buy DVD’s.
As excited as I was to watch this one, I was thinking in my head that it would really suck if this new one didn’t live up to the first one. I’m happy to say that this one was actually far better in my opinion, and the action scenes were pretty intense. They do a great job of creating intensity via camera movement and a sort of strobe type effect. They added a great twist that I won’t divulge, but without it, I think the plot would have been much weaker. The twist gives new motivations to the characters that makes things more plausible.
If you haven’t seen the first one, go see it first. It’s not a must, but the origins will add to drama for you. Be sure to watch this one with the lights off and late at night. Zombies on speed is the best way to describe this movie.
Recently a member of the San Francisco Giants team came forward , anonymously, to speak out against Scrotal Profiling in Major League Baseball. The player sent an anonymous letter to the media regarding his 5 agonizing years of seemingly endless, and supposedly random, steroid tests. He claims that this testing was being prompted by his unusually small scrotum, and since his rookie year he has constantly been made to feel like this genetic trait was actually due to steroid use.
“From the first time I stepped in the shower after a game, I knew I was being evaluated based on the size of my scrotum. I’m just like every other steroid-free ballplayer in the league, but going out there and hitting a homerun seemed to only increase the amount of staring at my scrotum in the shower. It’s been an psychologically and emotionally draining 5 years and I have completely stopped showering altogether. My wife and family have all suffered from the effects of this kind of scrotal profiling.”
The anonymous player said that he first realized he was a victim of scrotal profiling when he had received six “random”drug screening tests in his first year in the league, while other players with larger scrotums were never tested at all. This discrimination continued for 4 years and resulted in 35 “random” tests, while other players would only get 1 or 2 every few years.
“After 3 years in the league, I began to evaluate demanding a trade and getting scrotal implants to try and get a fresh start in a new city. I kept telling league officials that my unusually small scrotum was hereditary, but every time I had a good game it seemed to make my scrotum even smaller in their eyes. Even Barry Bonds felt comfortable showering next to me, as if I was making his obviously steroid infused scrotum larger by comparison.”
Leauge Officials and Giant management could not be reached for comment.
